R. Matthew Cairns
Matt earned an AB in History and International Relations from Brown University in 1983. In 1986, he graduated cum laude from Case Western University School of Law where he was a Law Review Editor and Research Assistant in International Law and Commercial Law.
Matt joined Gallagher Callahan & Gartrell in 2008 after 22 years with another New Hampshire firm. Every day, Matt defends the interests of individuals, businesses, banks, municipalities and insurers in civil and administrative litigation. He litigates at every level of the New Hampshire court system and in the United States District Court and the First Circuit Court of Appeals. He also is a member of the Vermont Bar where he also practices regularly. Matt’s case load always includes Products Liability, Commercial Litigation, Professional Liability, Trucking, Construction, and Employment cases.
Matt was the DRI President in 2010-2011. He is a past member of the Board of Directors for the NFJE and LCJ, and was on the Board of Visitors for the National Judicial College. Previous DRI positions include Northeast Regional Director, New Hampshire State Representative, Chair of the Law Practice Management Committee, and Chair of the National Membership Committee.
